Archive: An Intimate Micro Wedding at the Hillbrook Inn & Spa in Charlestown, West Virginia.

It’s mid 2020 and we still don’t know what the future hold for us. However, putting our lives on hold is not an option for many of us. Through precautions, restrictions, and distancing, I believe we are able to continue our lives and our dreams without feeling guilty or harming others in the process. One new trend I am very supportive of and ALL about are Micro Weddings! Micro, mini, tiny, small weddings are weddings of less than 10 people and usually in a personal or private location. These weddings are established for those who don’t want to put their lives on hold, however, they must be smart about their decisions.

A few key things to think about when creating a Micro Wedding:

  • Masks should be required and worn at all times by all guests and vendors attending the wedding.

  • Sanitation stations should be set up if a restroom or hand washing sink is not easily accessible.

  • Make sure your location is either outdoors or spacious enough for each person to be 6 feet + apart

  • Have guest quarantine themselves before attending the wedding

  • Offer a Zoom call during the wedding for those who can’t attend the wedding in person

  • Eliminate hugs and kisses from guests during the wedding

  • Create a sanitation process for dinner plates, cups, and utensils if not using disposable

  • Overall, stay safe and keep your distance!

Heather and Aleksey got married in 2018, however, I loved their wedding so much I thought I’d bring it back into the light. Not only did I love their wedding, they even had a Micro Wedding, before Covid-19 hit, which means people were doing micro weddings before all this shit went down! Their wedding was so intimate, so low key, and all about them and that’s what I loved so much about this wedding… when you push all the wedding crap aside and focus only on you and the person you are in love with, a wedding can be so much more meaningful and real.
