Environmental and Budget Friendly Wedding Ideas with Inspiration

Environmental and Budget Friendly Wedding Ideas with Inspiration

Are you planning your wedding, or about to plan your wedding, and are looking for environmentally and budget-friendly ideas to get you going?

Well, you’ve come to the right place.!

In this Journal entry, I’ll be giving a few examples and ideas and how to be budget oriented, while keeping the health of our planet in mind.

Start by saving your

$ money $

One of the worse things we can do, when being environmentally cautious, is to buy, buy, buy. Whatever you buy will never disappear. It will eventually become trash.
So, first things first, get into the mindset of reusing and recycling.

One big thing to think about when saving money is space. Talk around and see if a family member or friend has a space you can use! You can always use multiple locations, as well, if trying to save money and time. For example:
-Getting ready can be done at home
-Ceremony can be at ____ (ex: venue)
-Reception can be at ____ (ex: family home)

Stay Local

Use vendors who are local. Use a venue, or space, that’s local. Find food that’s local. LOCAL LOCAL LOCAL.
Why?
Travel = pollution
Shipping = extra supplies/ pollution/ trash

And plus, you’ll be supporting your local businesses.

Do it your-self

I definitely like support other vendors and artists when I can. However, when you’re trying to save money, try to do some things yourself. Then, hire vendors to do the things you can’t do!

Find items you can use to decorate with that can be composted over time.
Some items you can use:
flowers, greenery, compostable paper, fruits

BUY USED

If you are buying, buy used. Whether it’s freshly used, pre-owned, vintage, or antique, you’re re-using! Find a local shop near you, or ask a friend or family member if they have anything, and see what you can find!

Style with items you already own and try styling yourself! This could be challenging, but also fun! This will help you save your money by not investing in an event coordinator.

If you’re not investing in a coordinator, make sure you, or someone you trust, keep track of plans and the event schedule. This task usually best suites the mother of the bride or groom, or the maid of honor or best man.

If you’re still trying to save money, have guests take photos on their cellphones/ personal cameras and hire your photographer for a specific set of photos/ time
(ex: 2 hours (the ceremony, family photos, and bridal photos)).

Be creative

You can decorate with things you already have, or things friends and family may already own. This will save you money.
You can use things around the house, or borrow things, like:
Chairs, china sets and silverware, fabrics, pre-owned jewelry, and attire, tables, vases, and pre-owned nic-nacs for decorating.
